On February 23, 2023, We visited the house of Sushma and Srimani,(Names anonymized due to privacy) who are HIV patients. The purpose of our visit was to provide them with some essential ration and to spend some time with them, encouraging and supporting them in any way we could. The visit lasted for approximately 1 hour, during which time we had the opportunity to interact with the two patients and learn more about their daily struggles and challenges.
Upon arrival at their house, we were warmly welcomed by both Sushma and Srimani, who expressed their gratitude for our visit and the supplies we had brought. They shared their stories of living with HIV, the stigma they face from family and society, and the difficulties they have had in accessing medical care and support.
During our conversation, we were struck by the strength and resilience of these two individuals in the face of adversity. They spoke of their determination to fight the disease and lead fulfilling lives; despite the challenges they face. They also expressed their gratitude for the support they have received from various support groups and NGOs that work towards HIV awareness and advocacy.
We spent some time discussing their daily routines and challenges, and how they manage to stay positive and motivated in the face of adversity.
Overall, our visit to Sushma and Srimani's house was a humbling and inspiring experience. It reminded us of the resilience of the human spirit and the power of kindness and empathy in supporting those who are facing difficult circumstances. We felt grateful for the opportunity to meet these two amazing individuals and inspired to do more to support those living with HIV in our community.
